Morocco in November is really two months in one, and the switch is sharp: the first week still runs on European school holidays, then visitor numbers drop off clearly from 3 November onwards. This is the end of the high season. Marrakech sits around 23 °C by day and 11 °C at night according to the readings published on this site, the light is the best of the year, and flight prices come back to a mid-range level after the October peak.
Two other things set November 2026 apart from the months either side. First, a time difference of 1 hour with France, Spain, Germany and Belgium for the whole month, which had never happened in a November before. Second, the Marrakech International Film Festival, from 20 to 28 November 2026, which puts pressure on accommodation and flights to the city for a full week. Every figure below carries its source; where a piece of information is not published, that is written as such rather than estimated.
In brief
- Time difference: 1 hour with France, Spain, Germany and Belgium throughout November 2026, with Morocco one hour behind. That is new compared with previous winters.
- The first week is still busy: the French school holidays for zones A, B and C run until Monday 2 November 2026, Bavaria is on holiday from 2 to 6 November, and in Spain 1 November moves to Monday the 2nd in several regions.
- After that break, crowd levels return to average and the second half of the month offers the best balance of weather, price and quiet.
- Weather in Marrakech: 23 °C by day, 11 °C at night, around 30 mm of rain over the month according to the readings published on this site. November is one of the two wettest months of the year in the city, while still getting very little rain.
- Winter flight season: it runs from 25 October 2026 to 28 March 2027, so November is its first full month.
- Marrakech International Film Festival from 20 to 28 November 2026: the 23rd edition according to the festival’s official site. Book that week early if you are heading for Marrakech.
- Two national public holidays: 6 and 18 November. Government offices and banks closed, domestic transport busier.
- What to pack: layers, a windproof jacket and light rain protection. Days are mild, nights noticeably cooler.

Time difference: why Morocco is 1 hour behind France in November 2026
In November 2026, the time difference between Morocco and France is 1 hour for the whole month, with Morocco one hour behind. The reason is simple: Morocco has stayed on GMT (UTC+0) permanently since 20 September 2026 and no longer changes its clocks, while Europe went back to winter time on Sunday 25 October 2026. This time arrangement was set by decree no. 2.26.530 published in Official Bulletin no. 7521 of 29 June 2026, already covered in our guide to Morocco in October 2026 and its clock change. The same 1-hour gap applies to Spain, Germany and Belgium.
This is a genuine change, not a detail. Until 2025, Morocco and France shared the same time from November to March: you landed in Marrakech or Agadir in winter without touching your watch. November 2026 is the first November in which that reflex is wrong. A traveller who has kept the habit of previous winters will think an hour ahead, and that is exactly the kind of mistake that costs you a connection.
| Time of day | France, Spain, Germany, Belgium | Local time in Morocco |
|---|---|---|
| Morning | 8:00 | 7:00 |
| Middle of the day | 12:00 | 11:00 |
| Afternoon | 16:00 | 15:00 |
| Evening | 20:00 | 19:00 |
For a morning flight, the useful rule fits in one line: the arrival time printed on your ticket is already expressed in Moroccan local time, so one hour earlier than your body clock expects. An early departure from Europe gives an arrival that feels very early on the ground, and you gain an hour of usable day. On the way back, you lose that hour again: a late-afternoon flight lands in Europe later than the journey time suggests. Read the times on the ticket exactly as written, with no mental arithmetic.
For calling home, remember that midday in Morocco is 13:00 in France: if you call your family at 19:00 Moroccan time, you reach them at 20:00 where they are. A European work meeting at 9:00 takes place at 8:00 Moroccan time. The sun, meanwhile, sets early: on permanent GMT, late November afternoons are short, and outdoor visits are better placed before the middle of the afternoon.
Weather: what is the weather like in Morocco in November?

In Marrakech, November shows 23 °C by day, 11 °C at night and around 30 mm of rain over the month according to the readings published on this site. It is a mild month, with what those readings describe as magnificent light: the sun is low, the ochre tones of the city stand out, and the late afternoons have no equivalent in the rest of the year. The twelve-degree gap between day and night is the real thing to plan for: you have lunch outside in short sleeves and dinner in a jacket.
The fall in temperature is steady and predictable in Marrakech: around 32 °C in mid-September, 28 °C in October, 23 °C in November according to those same readings. In other words, November marks the definitive end of the heat. For anyone who found September or October too hot, this is the catch-up month: the medina, the souks and long walking visits become comfortable again in the middle of the day. The month-by-month detail is in our month-by-month guide to the Marrakech climate.
On rain, it pays to be precise to avoid a common misreading. Annual rainfall in Marrakech is low, 250 to 280 mm a year, concentrated from October to May, with a slight maximum in March and in November. November is therefore one of the two wettest months of the year in Marrakech, while still getting very little rain in absolute terms: both statements are true at the same time. The chance of a shower is higher than in September, but a November shower is usually brief. A windbreaker and one indoor visit kept in reserve are enough to absorb the risk.
| Climate data | Marrakech in November | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Daytime temperature | 23 °C | Readings published on this site |
| Night-time temperature | 11 °C | Readings published on this site |
| Rain over the month | around 30 mm | Readings published on this site |
| Annual rainfall total | 250 to 280 mm a year, from October to May | Readings published on this site |
| Rainfall ranking of the month | one of the two wettest months, with March | Readings published on this site |
| Seasonal trend | 32 °C in mid-September, 28 °C in October, 23 °C in November | Readings published on this site |
| Fez, Atlantic coast, High Atlas, desert | November readings not published on this site | Data not published |
For Fez, the Atlantic coast, the High Atlas and the desert, November readings are not published on this site, and we prefer to write that rather than put forward estimated figures: a few degrees either way changes what you pack. If you are heading for one of those regions, check an official weather bulletin a few days before departure. Two pointers hold good without any figures: altitude brings the temperature down, and desert nights are far colder than the days.
Crowds and prices: a tight first week, then it eases
November is rated average for crowds with mid-range flight prices on this site, described as an end-of-season month offering good value in the second half. But that average hides a sharp break: the first week is still shaped by three overlapping European school calendars, and the days that follow bear no resemblance to it, either in occupancy or in fares.
The dates matter, so here they are as published. The French school holidays for the three zones A, B and C run from Saturday 17 October to Monday 2 November 2026, on the same dates for all three zones: French demand is not spread out, it stacks up, so the first week of November is still tight. In Germany, Bavaria is on holiday from 2 to 6 November 2026, which shifts part of German demand to the start of the month. In Spain, 1 November moves to Monday the 2nd in several regions: the peak is short but real, especially on Tangier, Tetouan and Marrakech.
| Period in November 2026 | Crowds | Flight prices | Verdict |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 and 2 November | high, end of the French holidays for zones A, B and C | the highest of the month | To be avoided if you have the choice |
| 2 to 6 November | sustained, Bavarian holidays | still high | Book early or shift by a few days |
| 7 to 19 November | average | mid-range | Very good balance of quiet and weather |
| 20 to 28 November | high in Marrakech during the festival | tight in Marrakech | Ideal for the festival, book early |
| 29 and 30 November | average | mid-range | A quiet end to the month |
Across the full year, the best balance between weather and price falls between late September and early November, then again in late March. November therefore catches the end of that favourable window, and its second half is the best part of it for anyone not tied to a school calendar. The booking advice published on this site stays the same: aim for 6 to 10 weeks before a short-haul flight from Europe as a general rule. Our guide to when to book a flight to Morocco breaks that window down by departure airport.
A word of context explains why a shoulder-season month no longer empties out the way it used to. According to the Moroccan business press citing Ministry of Tourism figures, Morocco welcomed 14.1 million tourists by the end of August 2026, around 608,000 more than a year earlier, for 97.92 billion dirhams in tourism revenue, up 9.7%. A month rated average in 2026 therefore looks like a month that once counted as busy, especially in Marrakech and Agadir: do not count on finding well-located accommodation at the last minute, even on 12 November.
Winter flight season: November is its first full month
The IATA 2026-2027 winter flight season runs from 25 October 2026 to 28 March 2027: November is its first full month, the first in which the announced programme applies from the 1st to the 30th with no transition. In practice: settled timetables, new routes already open, and a wider choice of services from Europe than in September.
According to the official Ryanair press release of 6 August 2026, the airline is offering 5.3 million low-fare seats to Morocco for this winter season, spread over 156 routes including 17 new ones. That amounts to more than 580,000 extra seats, a rise of 12% on the previous winter, and 13 Moroccan airports served. Still according to that release, 16 aircraft are based in Morocco, including 2 new aircraft at Rabat, which becomes the airline’s fifth Moroccan base; the announced investment reaches 1.6 billion dollars for the 16 based aircraft, of which 200 million dollars for the two Rabat aircraft.
The new routes named in that release are Rabat–Stockholm, Rabat–Kraków, Marrakech–Wrocław, Agadir–Milan, Agadir–Nuremberg, Agadir–Bratislava and Agadir–Gdańsk. An important point for anyone looking for a flight: the release does not publish the full list of the 17 new routes, nor the weekly frequencies. Seven routes are named, the others are not as of this article. The only reliable way to check a specific route is to look for it in the airline’s booking engine, for the date you have in mind.
The breakdown by airport, as the Moroccan National Tourist Office communicated it and the press relayed it, gives 7 routes gained for Rabat, 5 for Marrakech and 5 for Agadir, with 14 European countries connected. The attribution of these numbers matters: they come from the ONMT via the press, and not from the carrier’s release. Institutional promotion information is published by the Moroccan National Tourist Office, and airport data by the Office National Des Aéroports.
Marrakech International Film Festival, 20 to 28 November: what it changes
The 23rd edition of the Marrakech International Film Festival takes place from 20 to 28 November 2026 according to the festival’s official site. For a traveller, the effect comes down to one sentence: for those nine days, Marrakech is the most sought-after city in Morocco, and it shows on flights, on accommodation and in the airport queues. The festival has existed since 2001 and is one of the events that fill the city outside European school holidays.
On accommodation, the consequence is mechanical: demand concentrates on one specific week and a limited area, around the venues listed in the official programme, namely the Palais des Congrès with the Salle des Ministres and the Salle des Ambassadeurs, the Cinéma le Colisée and the Yves Saint Laurent Museum. The festival also holds open-air screenings on Jemaa el-Fna square, which packs the medina in the evenings. To sleep near these venues, book considerably earlier than usual; if you are coming for another reason, stay further from the centre or shift by a week.
On flights and the airport, the festival week sits on top of an already active period: the winter season is in force, and Marrakech gains 5 routes according to the breakdown communicated by the ONMT and relayed by the press. Expect clustered arrivals, peaks at the check-in desks at the end of the festival and taxis that are harder to get in the evening. The terminals, services and access routes are described in our guide to Marrakesh Menara Airport, useful for working out a realistic margin for that week rather than your usual one.
On the programme itself, three clarifications avoid unpleasant surprises. The official selection is announced in early November 2026: before that announcement, any list of films going around belongs to the previous edition and not to this one. Prices, screening times and ticketing arrangements are not published as of this article; the official site offers a festival e-pass and an online account, and that is the only reference to consult. Finally, the recurring sections are the Official Competition, the Gala Screenings, the Special Screenings, the Tributes, the “11th Continent” programme, the Panorama of Moroccan Cinema and the Young Audience programme.
The Atlas Workshops are the industry strand of the festival. Created in 2018, they bring together around 250 international professionals over four days according to the official site, which has a practical consequence even for travellers who are not taking part: some of the higher-category rooms are booked on those dates. We publish a dedicated practical guide to the festival for the detail of how it unfolds; this section is limited to the impact on a trip.
Airport by airport: what changes in November
The winter programme does not affect every Moroccan airport in the same way. Rabat is the big change of the season, Agadir receives the most named new routes, Marrakech absorbs the festival week, and Casablanca is not the subject of any specific announcement in the available release. Here is what can be verified, airport by airport.
| Airport | What changes in November 2026 | Source of the figure |
|---|---|---|
| Marrakesh Menara | 5 routes gained over the winter season; new Marrakech–Wrocław route; a sharp peak from 20 to 28 November during the festival | Ryanair press release of 6 August 2026, ONMT breakdown via the press, festival’s official site |
| Agadir-Al Massira | 5 routes gained; new routes to Milan, Nuremberg, Bratislava and Gdańsk | Ryanair press release of 6 August 2026, ONMT breakdown via the press |
| Rabat | becomes Ryanair’s 5th Moroccan base with 2 new based aircraft and 7 routes gained; new routes to Stockholm and Kraków; 200 million dollars of announced investment | Ryanair press release of 6 August 2026, ONMT breakdown via the press |
| Casablanca Mohammed V | no route launch announced in the available release; the airport is one of the 13 Moroccan airports served | Ryanair press release of 6 August 2026 |
Two remarks for reading this table correctly. The numbers of routes gained per airport come from the ONMT relayed by the press, and not from the carrier: they give an order of magnitude, not a binding timetable. And the fact that Casablanca does not appear in the new-route announcements does not mean the hub is losing flights, only that no launch is announced there in the document consulted. For terminals and processing times, ONDA remains the official source.
One last point specific to November: the timetables shown that month are the ones that will hold until 28 March 2027, so it is the right moment to compare several arrival airports. Add the cost of the ground transfer to the price of the ticket: that is where the real comparison between Marrakech, Agadir and Rabat is decided.
Public holidays and practical life in November
Two national public holidays fall in November in Morocco: 6 and 18 November. Their effect is strictly practical, and that is where to look. On those two days, government offices, banks and some public services are closed, domestic transport is busier, and some museums and sites run on modified hours. If you have an administrative errand, a large counter withdrawal or a currency exchange to do at a branch, put it the day before or the day after.
For domestic travel, prepare for these two dates as you would for long weekends: trains and coaches fill up faster than usual. Book your train tickets in advance rather than on the morning of departure, and allow extra margin on the services that take you to an airport. Cash machines stay accessible, but a closed branch will not raise a card limit: plan your cash needs the day before.
Another point to factor in this season: according to the Moroccan press in September and October 2026, ONCF has been applying a new transport plan since 14 September 2026, linked to the works on the Kénitra-Marrakech high-speed line. Timetable adjustments and longer journey times are announced on some trains. No specific times are reproduced here, because a copied timetable ages badly: the right practice is to check each journey in the ONCF app or on the site of the Office National des Chemins de Fer, on the day itself, especially if a train is taking you to a flight.
Otherwise, November poses no particular difficulty: payments, currency exchange, tipping and entry formalities do not depend on the season. The only variable truly specific to the month is nightfall, earlier than in October: plan your returns from hikes or excursions earlier, and keep a torch in your bag if you leave lit areas.
What to pack in November
The right answer for November comes down to one word: layers. In Marrakech, 23 °C by day and 11 °C at night according to the readings published on this site means a T-shirt at midday and two thicknesses after sunset. A suitcase designed for sun alone is the most common mistake of the month; a European winter suitcase is its exact mirror image.
| November situation | What to take | Why |
|---|---|---|
| A day in the city | T-shirts, a light shirt, trousers, sunglasses | 23 °C by day in Marrakech, low and strong sun |
| Evening and night | a jumper, a jacket, thicker socks | 11 °C at night in Marrakech, twelve degrees below the day |
| Possible rain | a light waterproof windbreaker, closed shoes | Around 30 mm over the month, one of the two annual peaks |
| Altitude and mountains | a warm jacket, a hat, technical layers | The temperature drops with altitude |
| A night in the desert | a proper jumper and a windproof jacket | Desert nights are far colder than the days |
| By the sea | a windbreaker, a shawl or a scarf | The sea breeze cools the end of the day |
The paperwork side of the same checklist, including passport validity and what to have ready on arrival, is covered in our guide to whether you need a visa for Morocco and the entry requirements. One addition specific to November: a small foldable bag to carry the layer you take off in the middle of the day, because you will take it off every day. Also bring a pair of shoes that copes with a wet street, a November shower being brief but sometimes heavy.
Where to go in Morocco in November according to your profile
November rewards travellers who accept that they have to choose. With mild days, cool nights and a higher chance of rain in Marrakech, some destinations become better than in high summer, while others call for the right gear. Here are four profiles and the answer that goes with each.
A first trip to Morocco: Marrakech and its hinterland
For a first time, Marrakech in November is a very good choice: 23 °C by day lets you walk all day long, which is not the case in high summer, and the low light flatters the city. Aim for the second half of the month if you are not tied to a school calendar, avoiding the week of 20 to 28 November if you are not coming for the festival. Keep a half-day of indoor visits in reserve in your plan, in case a shower falls.
Sun and beach: Agadir and the Atlantic coast
If your priority is an off-season beach, Agadir is the logical destination for November, and it is also the airport receiving the most named new routes this winter, to Milan, Nuremberg, Bratislava and Gdańsk according to the Ryanair press release of 6 August 2026. November readings for the Atlantic coast are not published on this site: check an official bulletin before you leave rather than an approximate average. Bring a windbreaker for the end of the day by the water, and Essaouira if you like wind more than swimming.
Desert, valleys and wide-open spaces
November is a good time for the desert because the days are no longer crushing, but the night is the point to watch: it is far colder than the day, and a camp calls for a proper jumper and a windproof jacket. November readings for the desert and the High Atlas are not published on this site, so no figure is put forward here. The classic itineraries from Marrakech stay the same all year, towards Merzouga or Zagora via Ouarzazate: in November it is the evening gear that changes, not the route.
Cities and heritage: Fez, Rabat, Casablanca, Tangier
The cities of the north and the interior are good to visit in November because walking becomes pleasant again all day long. Rabat deserves particular attention this season: the city becomes Ryanair’s fifth Moroccan base with two new based aircraft and gains 7 routes according to the breakdown communicated by the ONMT, which makes it a more credible gateway than before. November climate readings for Fez and the Atlantic coast are not published on this site: bring what you need for a shower and a cool evening, and keep an indoor visit as a fallback.
Mistakes to avoid when travelling to Morocco in November
- Believing you still land at the same time as in France. That was true until 2025, it no longer is in November 2026: the gap is 1 hour all month, with Morocco behind. Trust the times printed on the ticket, not your memory of previous winters.
- Booking the first week thinking you are travelling off season. The French holidays for zones A, B and C run until 2 November 2026, Bavaria follows from the 2nd to the 6th, and Spain has a short peak around the 2nd. Fares only reflect the end of the high season from the second week onwards.
- Landing on festival week without meaning to. From 20 to 28 November 2026, Marrakech is in very high demand. Either you come for the festival and book early, or you shift your stay by a week.
- Packing for summer. With 11 °C at night in Marrakech, a single thickness is not enough after sunset, and a night at altitude or in the desert is cooler still.
- Forgetting the rain because Morocco has a reputation for being dry. Marrakech receives around 30 mm in November and the month is among the two wettest of the year in the city. A windbreaker and a backup indoor visit are enough, but you have to have planned them.
- Scheduling a branch errand or a train without looking at the calendar. The 6th and 18th of November are national public holidays, with counters closed and domestic transport busier; and ONCF has been applying a new transport plan since 14 September 2026, to be checked before each journey.
FAQ — Morocco in November
What is the time difference between France and Morocco in November 2026?
It is 1 hour for the whole month, with Morocco one hour behind France. Morocco has stayed on GMT permanently since 20 September 2026 and no longer changes its clocks, while Europe went back to winter time on 25 October 2026. The same gap applies to Spain, Germany and Belgium. Until 2025, Morocco and France shared the same time in November.
Is the weather still good in Morocco in November?
Yes, and it is even one of the most pleasant months for walking. Marrakech shows 23 °C by day and 11 °C at night with around 30 mm of rain over the month according to the readings published on this site, which describe a mild month with magnificent light. The chance of a shower is higher than in September, but the rainfall total stays low. Simply bring a jacket for the evening.
Is November a rainy month in Morocco?
In Marrakech, November is one of the two wettest months of the year along with March, while still getting very little rain in absolute terms: the city receives 250 to 280 mm a year, concentrated from October to May, of which around 30 mm in November. For Fez, the Atlantic coast, the High Atlas and the desert, November readings are not published on this site: check an official bulletin before you leave.
When should you book your flight to travel to Morocco in November?
The advice published on this site is to aim for 6 to 10 weeks before a short-haul flight from Europe as a general rule. Two periods call for acting earlier: the first week of the month, still under European school holidays until 2 November 2026, and the week of the Marrakech festival from 20 to 28 November. The second half of the month outside the festival is the most flexible period.
Are there any public holidays in Morocco in November?
Yes, two national public holidays: 6 and 18 November. On those days, government offices, banks and some public services are closed, domestic transport is busier and some museums and sites apply modified hours. Put your branch errands the day before or the day after, and book your domestic journeys in advance.
Is the Marrakech festival worth the trip in November?
The 23rd edition of the Marrakech International Film Festival runs from 20 to 28 November 2026 according to the official site, with screenings at the Palais des Congrès, the Cinéma le Colisée, the Yves Saint Laurent Museum and in the open air on Jemaa el-Fna square. The official selection is announced in early November 2026, and neither prices nor screening times are published to date: the official site offers a festival e-pass and an online account. If you are coming for the festival, book your flight and accommodation considerably earlier than usual.
November or December: which month to choose for Morocco?
November keeps milder days and returns to average crowd levels after its first week, which makes it the end of the favourable window open since late September. December follows its own end-of-year logic, detailed in our guide to Morocco in December. If you are looking for the best balance of weather, price and quiet, the second half of November outside festival week is the best slot of the two months.
In summary
Morocco in November 2026 comes down to three decisions. First the dates: avoid 1 and 2 November if you can, since the French school holidays for zones A, B and C run until the 2nd and Bavaria follows from the 2nd to the 6th, and favour the second half of the month, deciding knowingly whether or not you want the week of the Marrakech festival from the 20th to the 28th. Then the watch: the gap with France is 1 hour all month, with Morocco behind, and that makes this a November without precedent on that point. Finally the suitcase: 23 °C by day and 11 °C at night in Marrakech, with around 30 mm of rain over the month, call for layers and a windbreaker. The rest follows: the winter flight season is fully in force from 25 October 2026 to 28 March 2027, Rabat and Agadir gain the most routes, and 6 and 18 November mean shifting your branch errands.
